It’s been a fairly torrid return to the Premier League (PL) for Fulham who have won just one of their eight matches so far (W1, D1, L6). A 2-0 victory within that sequence was their only clean sheet in the PL across ten matches. That highlights their defensive issues, as does the fact that their average of 1.88 goals against is the fourth-highest in the league.
Fulham’s average of 5.5 shots on target against them per game is also the league’s fourth highest, but they are not just struggling in defence. The ‘Cottagers’ have also been goal-shy in the attack, especially at home, scoring just three goals across their four PL home matches. Only three sides have scored fewer home PL goals this season.
Everton will be desperate to get back to winning ways after three consecutive losses – that’s the first time Carlo Ancelotti has lost three league games in a row since November 2006. Their most recent defeat saw over 1.5 goals scored in the first half, which is something that has now happened in six of their previous seven PL fixtures.
Up until this season, the ‘Toffees’ had gone eight games without a win in London, yet they’ve won away at both Crystal Palace and Tottenham Hotspur this season. They’ve also lost only one of their previous five PL visits to Craven Cottage (W2, D2, L1), scoring 2+ goals in three of the previous four of those fixtures there.
Everton may appear to have lost steam from their blistering start to the season but Fulham will be no match for them this weekend, our tipsters predict.
