Chelsea are seemingly unstoppable, racking up six consecutive Premier League (PL) / UEFA Champions League (UCL) wins for the second time under Frank Lampard’s regime. They have led by one goal at HT in five games of the current run, within which the last three games have seen Chelsea split their goals 50/50 across halves.
Impressively, the ‘Blues’ have lost just one of their last 13 competitive home games (W10, D2, L1), averaging 2.78 goals per match across the nine wins therein that came vs domestic or European top-flight opposition. Seven of those nine wins saw Chelsea beat the -1 handicap, of which five saw them win both halves.
Tottenham stole the headlines in midweek, beating Ludogorets 4-0, during which a 50+ yard goal from Harry Winks boosted their average PL / European xG* factor to 1.68. Now back in domestic action, ‘Spurs’ are still the only club not to trail at HT in a league game, and targeting a run of five straight PL victories for the first time since Dec 2018 after beating Manchester City last weekend to go top of the league.
A 1-0 victory at West Bromwich (Nov 8) saw Tottenham complete a run of four successive PL away victories for the first time since Dec 2018-Jan 2019. Another victorious shutout here would mark Tottenham’s first haul of three successive clean-sheet PL away wins since Dec 2004, though the Lilywhites’ last clean-sheet away win here came in Dec 1986!
Tottenham are leading the table while Chelsea’s squad depth is not in doubt and they can be devastating on their day. Our tipsters have predicted for both teams to score and there are incredible odds of 1.65 on Betpay for that possibility.
Prediction: Chelsea 2-2 Tottenham
